GRE Explanations

According to Abbreviationfinder, GRE stands for Graduate Record Examinations.

General Information
For individuals who wish to apply for admission to a master’s and / or doctoral program abroad, most universities require GRE test results to be sent to them. Colleges use GRE test results to compare applicants with different academic backgrounds.

Structure of the exam

There are two modalities of the GRE exam, the general exam and the subject exam.

The general exam (GRE General) is adaptive and is presented by computer. This test assesses your verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing skills. The subject exam (GRE Subject), is administered only by paper and pencil and assesses your academic knowledge in specific studies, such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Literature, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology.

Although most universities only ask for the GRE General test, some academic programs and scholarship programs also request the GRE test by subject. Check directly with the colleges to which you are applying.

Cost

The GRE General exam costs $ 170 and the GRE subject exam costs $ 150. These prices may change without prior notice.
